Skiing

Professor Waller is a keen skier in a family of keen skiers.

Whilst never having a serious injury himself he has treated many recreational, professional and Olympic skiers with ski and snowboard injuries.

Most of these injuries have been ACL tears that have required surgical reconstruction. His stated aim in every case is to get the injured skier back on the slopes skiing or boarding with confidence the following season.

And mostly they do.

Associate Professor Waller has been a preferred knee surgeon for Thredbo and Perisher Valley Ski Patrols and Ski Schools (instructors) for many years, so he knows what it takes to get skiers and boarders back on the ski hill.

Five of our patients competed in the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, in 2014, and six competed in  PyeongChang, South Korea in 2018. All of these high performance athletes have had at least one ACL reconstruction done by Associate Professor Waller.
